We have worked on
different themes like ‘Festivals of India’, ‘Modes of Education in different
ages’, ‘Peace’, ‘Madhya Pradesh’ (the central state of India) ‘Gujarat’ (the state
we live in) and Environment, etc. during last five years.
We select the
theme for the year and plan out educational tours related to the theme. We have
been conducting workshops of dramatics and folk dances. Children collect information, prepare charts, models,
prepare presentations on computers, write songs and poems related to the theme.
Finally we organise programme and children have performance and exhibition(Open
House forum) of their work. Through
such exposures children gain knowledge, develop an insight for the selected
theme.
We had a memorable ‘Annual Mela’ based on the theme
‘Folk arts of India’. The children
presented different folk dances of various states of India. A drama based on a
traditional Tale ‘Why the sky is high’ was an attractive event of the day.
